Going Home

Less than 48 hours after Gianna was born we were discharged from the hospital. Chris and I were both a little surprised we were discharged so early in the day since I had a c-section. I felt pretty good and was moving around better this time than I was with Ava though.
The day after we got home Gramma and Grampa Passe came to meet Gianna.

While they were here we were out quite a bit. We did a little shopping at Carters for Gianna and went to the park at Lake Andrea after we were done so Ava could play.

Special Visitors

Kaitlin was the first one to the hospital to meet Gianna because she had to work that night. She was very patient! When she came the first time, Gianna was in the nursery having her heart monitored because of a low heart rate. She was in the nursery for 4 hours and we thought it would only be 2. She got to meet Gianna on her second trip up to the hospital.
My good friend, Nikki, came up after school..
Mom and Dad came to meet Gianna with Ava.

Josh also came with Kaitlin the next day to meet his new niece. Gramma and Grampa Zarletti also came up to meet their new great granddaughter.

Ava Meets Gianna

I was so excited to see Ava when Mom and Dad brought her to the hospital. I was a little worried about what she'd think of her new sister, but she did amazing with Gianna! She was a little scared to come by me at first.
When we finally got her to sit by me in bed she was concerned about hurting my IV site. She asked some questions and seemed OK when I told her it didn't hurt and she wouldn't hurt me.
Then she got into meeting Gianna.
Ava brought Gianna a present and Gianna had a special present for her big sister too.

These are my favorite pictures of Chris with his girls!! I can not wait to see how the girls evolve into friends over the years.

Gianna Marie

Gianna Marie decided she did not want to wait until the scheduled c-section date of May 2nd! I went into labor about 6:30 pm on April 30th. We dropped Ava off and got to the hospital about 7:30. At first I thought they were going to watch me and send me right back home. By about 9:00 pm the nurse said we'd deliver the baby yet that night. I went into the OR about 10:30 pm and Gianna was born at 11:08 pm. I was so excited that Ava would have a sister! As soon as Dr. Brockman made the cut where she needed she said, "Oh my, LOTS of black hair!" Gianna had a very healthy set of lungs and cried right away. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Almost a whole pound heavier and an inch longer than Ava was. The nurses and anesthesiologist were AMAZING!! Walking myself into the OR this time was a bit strange, but they were fabulous.

Gone Fishing

Ava finally got to use her fishing pole that she got from Nonna and Papa for Christmas for something other than casting in the living room or basement. We headed to Anderson Pond after nap today.
 Papa getting the bait ready.

 Papa making the first cast.
Ava reeled in a couple times after some hits to find the fish had stolen her worms.
When Papa took the worms out to rebait the hook Ava shrieked and said, "Oh, it's so CUTE and tiny!"
Papa showing Ava how to bait the hook.

After a few times of reeling in to see the fish stole the worm, they switched to a worm that's harder to get off the hook and had better luck.

Her first catch!! You have to look really closely by her leg closest to the pond. A perfect Ava sized fish!
Examining the catch. We thought she'd touch it, but no such luck.
I've never seen something so tiny in a pond before. Her third catch of the day was much the same size.
Taking some time to love Daddy!
A team effort to reel in the second catch of the day.
Now that's a fish!! Ava announced that we had dinner when she saw this one!

Snuggles with Nonna. We had so much fun watching Ava fish with Papa and Chris. I think there will be many more visits to Anderson Pond this summer!

Girl Time

This morning Kaitlin, Mom and I took Ava for her first pedicure. I think it was safe to say she LOVED it!! If you ask her what her favorite part was she says, "The water! It was nice and warm!" The little chair was so cute and watching her face was priceless. She picked a purple polish and had big glittery sparkles put over it.  It was a nice activity to do together while I'm still a Mommy of one!

The Burley Debut

We finally got a Burley a couple weekends ago. Ava's been itching to use it, so her and Chris got it ready for it's debut ride tonight.
 Ready to go!!
Making sure Daddy's hooking it up correctly.
Ready to head out. There's a spot for the new baby too.

Chris said Ava giggled the whole ride.
