Countdown to Demo...2 Days!!

We are set to demolish the bathroom this Thursday! I'm very excited to have everything be new in there. Chris said he'd wait until I was done getting ready for summer school on Thursday morning and then would start swinging the hammer! I'm pretty eager to see what it's going to look like when I get home.

I can NOT wait to rip this ugly old medicine cabinet off the wall!

I will not miss this big honkin eye sore either!

Shedd Aquarium

Chris had to work on Saturday, so he had Friday off. We went down to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.
This huge sea turtle was my favorite!

The Start to Home Improvement Season

Saturday, Chris ripped out the marble tile that was in front of the fireplace. It was original to the house and was chipped and dirty looking, so we decided to replace it. Here's a picture of the fireplace with the white marble tile.
The tile is in and setting!
This morning Chris grouted. I got my first tile installation lesson and got my hands dirty for a bit.
The finished product.

Lobster Fest 2009

Saturday afternoon we went to Chris's other sister, Kerry's house, for Lobster Fest. Kerry's husband, Scott, is from Maine. For the last 3 years they have had a party where guests buy a lobster for their meal. This was the first year Chris and I were able to make it to Lobster Fest. We had a lot of fun!!

Even Nadia was decked out for the occasion! The back side of the onsie had claw prints across the butt.

Scott adding the lobster to the pot!

Family Time

On Friday morning, Chris and I headed to his sister, Michelle's house, for a BBQ. We were able to spend the night enjoying lawn games and good food in their awesome backyard.
Parker and Grandma trying to get the bubble machine to work.
Lauren and Chris playing ladder ball.
Lauren and Grandpa playing bean bags.

A VERY excited Parker after he made a set of balls stay on the ladder.

Stain that Trim!

Chris spent the first weekend of June staining a boat load of trim in preperation for the new windows. We got the call today that the windows are in! Let the dust fly and the construction mess begin! (Does anyone want a roommate for awhile?)
Throughout the day, our neighbor friend, Ray, kept checking up on Chris. He said he likes to watch other people work because he doesn't get tired. Chris took a break to show him the new fish and the crystal clear pond.
