School Season

I went back to work last Tuesday to begin inservices. We had open house on Thursday night. We didn't have to report on Friday, but Kaitlin and I went in so we could put all the kids' school supplies away before they start. Tomorrow will be the last day off before the kids start on Tuesday. I'm hoping for another good school year!

It's a Mystery!

Chris and I went to Franklin this afternoon for a get together at one of his co-worker's homes. We got home and I looked out the window to find these beautiful flowers. There wasn't a note, so we have no idea who left them! I think it could have been the little girls next door, but I'm not sure. They look nice on the kitchen table!

Baby Shower

This weekend Chris's family had a baby shower for us in Minnesota. His mom made this cute diaper cake for us.

I had to make sure to get a close up of the cake before we took it apart.

Completely Finished!

The bathroom is officially complete! Chris and I put up the wall transfer last night to complete everything.

Childcare for Baby Passe...Check!!

Chris and I went and met a woman last night for childcare. I talked to her in April when I was off of work and she seemed perfect for us. She and her daughter run the daycare out of her home and both have early childhood degrees. They can have no more that 8 children at once. Her daughter, Katie, is due at the beginning of Sept, so her baby and ours will be the only babies there. Her vacations work out perfect with my school schedule, so we won't have to pay for care when I'm home or find alternate care because she's on vacation! We were also really happy to find Ruth because she was one of few that didn't have state violations and that was open early enough for Chris and I to drop off and get to work. It was also an added bonus that there are two people there, so we shouldn't have to worry about her calling us that she's sick. Another thing is checked off the "baby-to-do" list.

Braelyn and Brooklyn

The last couple weeks I've been helping with my cousin, Kaleb's girls. Braelyn is 18 months old and Booklyn is 5 weeks today. Kaleb unexpectedly lost his fiance a few weeks ago and has needed some extra help taking care of the girls during the day. They're both fun!

She stopped running for two seconds so I could take a picture of her! She got her bangs cut today by Auntie Sue.

Baby Passe's Room

Sunday Chris and I set up the baby's crib and dresser. We also put up the wall decal above the crib (that was a battle!) I have one load of clean clothes in the dresser waiting to go on a baby now!

Hopefully, we'll get a mattress soon.

Friday's projects

Chris had Friday off because he's working today. We installed the shades in the baby's room and the living room. Chris also stained the two windows upstairs that were replaced. The carpet was installed Thursday afternoon. Although we were sad to cover the floors we love the new carpet! The baby's room is starting to come together too. We're going to attempt to assemble the crib and dresser tomorrow.

The completely finished living room!

Trim Installation

Thursday night Chris and dad put up the rest of the window trim. Chris has a new obsession with using his nail gun that's starting to scare me a little. I think he'd love it if he could just nail things with it all day long!

WHY WHY WHY???

We're getting new carpet put in tomorrow, so Chris ripped up the old carpet last night. When we got the price for the carpet, we also got a quote for refinishing the floors because we knew there was hardwood under the carpet. When we pulled the carpet back a little the color didn't seem like it was going to match the stain of the floor in our bedroom or the living room. It also didn't appear to be in as good of condition as the rest of the floors. At that point we decided that because refinishing the floors would mean moving out completely for a week and having to figure out what to do with all the bedroom and living room furniature, we didn't have the time to refinish them. We were completely shocked to see what was actually under the carpet last night!! The stain actually matches our bedroom perfect and is a little darker than that in the living room. We are so disappointed that we have to cover it up with carpet again. We still don't understand why someone covered it in the first place. (Can you tell we like our hardwood?)
This is the floor in the hallway going to the kitchen and from our bedroom to the baby's room.

Fully Functioning Bathroom!

I'm a little behind! I've been busy in my classroom and helping watch my cousin's babies. As of last weekend, we have a fully functioning bathroom!! We still have a couple finishing touches (if you look closely, you'll see one we completed this week) until it's completely the way we want it.

(This is the latest picture...notice the window is trimed out and the sill is installed.)

We still have to install the white cupboard over the toilet and put up a vinyl wall transfer above the towel bar. We love the new shower!! Chris did a great job with the tile and often stands admiring it.

Goodbye Office, Hello Baby Passe's Room

The bathroom is coming to an end, so Chris worked on the baby's room on Sunday. He repainted the yellow walls a lighter shade of yellow and did one accent wall that's a green/blue. Everything in the room will be new except for the doors.

Daddy carefully measuring for the new trim around the door.
