12 Month Update

Yesterday Ava and I enjoyed watching the snow fall from the living room window. Chris had his first Saturday wrestling meet, so it was a girl's day! I have been behind with a 12 month update for Ava. She was suppose to have her wellness exam on the 30th. That morning she woke up with a cough that sounded like a seal bark. Chris stayed home with her and brought her to the doctor early. We found out she had an ear infection and the beginning of croup, so she got some antibiotics and directions to nebulize 3 times per day for the next 3 days. No wellness exam for a sick baby! She weighed 21 pounds that day, but we didn't get any other stats. We are rescheduled for the 23rd of this month. I am NOT looking forward to the blood draw that comes with the visit. Ava has 12 teeth and is moving like crazy! She does not sit still and has taken her first step alone, so it's only a matter of time before Chris and I are in real trouble. The other night she figured out how to open the garbage and threw the pizza wrapper with cheese in it onto the floor. Clearly we have more child proofing to do! She is making sound of a dog, sheep and monkey and sometimes will tell us what Santa says. Her favorite food in the world is bananas. She loves sharing them with Chris and constantly signs "more please" when he's not giving her as much as she feels he should. She is trying to say many words. She loves saying "uh oh," "bye bye," "mama," and "dada!!!!" She is starting to say Papa and Nonna (Nana) and baby. I think she's going to get into trouble at school for talking too much if she continues the way she is now. She also loves to read and look at books. That's exciting for me to see!
