We were suppose to host Passe Christmas this year on the 20th. The 18th I got a call at the end of my work day that Gianna had a 101.9 fever. Since it was so close to the time we usually pick her up they just wanted us to be aware. Chris was already on his way to get the girls, so I called the doctor as I suspected another ear infection. I called Chris back to let him know we couldn't get her in that day and had to wait until the next day. He informed me he was on his way to the ER with her. The teacher was holding her at daycare and her lips turned blue, she started foaming at the mouth and passed out. The teachers started chest compressions on her and called the rescue squad. When Chris arrived the rescue squad wasn't there yet but Gianna was awake. He took her in himself. When I pulled up to the ER right in front of Chris, there were 8-10 doctors and nurses standing on the curb who literally took Gianna out of her seat and ran her into the ER. Poor Ava was a mess and was screaming and crying because she felt bad for her sister and just wanted her to be OK. We ended up being admitted to the hospital since we didn't see first hand what happened. While they suspected a febrile seizure, they wanted to be sure there was nothing else. When she got sick in the middle of the night, Chris and I decided it wasn't a good idea to have his whole family down for Christmas. John and Barb came down, so we didn't really have a Passe Christmas. Gianna was released from the hospital late Friday afternoon and didn't return to her normal self for a good 3-4 days. She is better now and further cardiac tests show no concerns with her heart.
Ava was excited to give Gramma a sweatshirt from her school.
