Racine County Fair

We went to the Racine County Fair today. Ava was loving sitting on the tractors and "driving" them. Good thing we saw Grammy and Grampy AFTER we were on the tractors. Grampy would have given us a hard time that we were sitting on the wrong color tractors.
We were able to see some barrel races after we walked through the horse barn. Ava was pretty impressed by them. She said her favorite part of the fair was the animals. Her favorites were the horses, pigs and rabbits.

We found Grampy's tractor in with the antique tractors. This is the right color tractor for our family!

Taste of Wisconsin

Last night we went to Taste of Wisconsin. It was beautiful outside! Ava and I actually had to put on long sleeves.

We watched the K-9 demonstration. I am always amazed by watching the dogs work. They are so well trained!
They demonstrated how a police dog will only attack in three different situations and showed the officer commanding the attack and release.
We always get some amazing ice cream from a vendor at Taste of Wisconsin. Whoever had ice cream at the moment was Ava's best friend. Nonna's ice cream lasted the longest so Ava had to get some from her too.
Ice cream face!
One of the police officers gave Ava a stuffed bunny at their booth. Getting that bunny made her night! One of her favorite Dora episodes is an Easter show with Hip Hop Bunny in it. She decided to name her new bunny Hip Hop Bunny just like in Dora.

A Morning at the Pond

This morning we went with one of Mommy's friends from work to visit her aunt's pond. When we pulled up Mommy and I could not believe our eyes! This pond was way more than we ever expected! It was so amazing!
Here's me playing with all the kids! Jack, Max, Ava, Addy, Jayda and I had a blast!

Jayda was just soaking up the rays!
I loved playing in the sand and going in the "tall" water. I showed off some of my swimming skills with Mommy. Miss Beth sure is teaching me a lot of new things to do in the water!
The pond is stocked with bluegill and bass. They were coming right up to the edge to visit us.
I fed the fish with Ava and Jack.
After lunch Addy and I had fun playing in the water and sand. Thank you Jackie for an amazing morning.

Little Piggies

This morning we had zoo class again. This time the theme was pigs! I painted a big pig.
I used stamps to put pigs, goats and chicks in the farm scene.
I glued pigs onto paper and then used colored shaving cream as paint so it looked like my pigs rolled in the mud.
I rolled in the mud puddle with the stuffed pigs to keep cool.
Our group project was to make a pig costume! I made a little tail (you have to look closely to see my pink curly tail.)
I also made my pig mask. Mommy said I was one cute little pig. Then we crawled around on the floor and oinked like pigs.
I also played in a big tub of dirt with some pigs. We ate straw for a snack (potato straws) and went to the farm in the zoo to see the pigs. Their names are Petunia and Peony and they are sisters!

Food, Folks, and Spokes

Friday night we went downtown to watch the Food, Folks, and Spokes bike races. I had a prime seat in my wagon parked on the curb. I clapped and cheered as the men rode their bikes past me.

The second man was the winner of the race. He was from Germany.

Beach Fun!

Monday morning we headed to the beach for some more fun. The water was a lot warmer this time, so we actually were in the water instead of playing by the edge the whole time.

A Visit With Nadia and Cruz

I got a special visit with Nadia, Cruz, Scott and Kerry yesterday! They've been in Chicago for a few days and stopped in Kenosha on their way back to Minnesota. When Daddy got home from his class, we went down by the lake to feed the ducks.

We saw these babies with their Mommy.
We were a little sad when all the bread was gone and we didn't have more food for the ducks.
We got over it fast and started running around with each other while our Mommies and Daddies walked on the path with Cruz.

Cruz was content in his stroller and kept making silly faces with his lips. It was too cute!
After our lake adventure we went for dinner and came back to our house to play a little more.
I think Cruz was getting sleepy. Thanks for coming to visit La Grange's! We had fun!

Zoo Class

I took Ava to her first zoo class at the Milwaukee Zoo today. I am in love with the classes! They make me think of all the things I learned in my early childhood classes and all the centers and activities I set up for my student teaching. Ava made a horn and shaker.
Then she finger painted a lion.
After circle time we did a group activity and made a tambourine.
Then we went back to centers for a little bit and did puzzles and...
 ...made a Zoo Music book.
After a story and snack we went to the farm and fed the goats! I am still just amazed at how well the class was put together. I am so excited to go back in a couple weeks for a new theme!
